What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a kind of biofeedback that is a computer-assisted training technique that allows brain-behavior to be taught. It is a non-invasive technique that is painless. The therapist places several sensors on your scalp and/or ears. The sensors detect the brain waves, which are then tracked by an electroencephalogram (EEG) screen, an amplifier, and a device mounted on a computer that measures the impulses and provides feedback. You use your brain waves during the treatment to control a video game on the computer screen. Playing the games is very simple. You are "playing" with your brain; your hands have no controller or device. If you make the right brain wave patterns, the game will continue, but if you make the wrong patterns, the game will slow down or stop. Training certain brain waves improve the instinctive regulatory mechanisms of the brain, resulting in more efficient and effective neurological function. The brain is urged to reach a level of self-regulation through training and exercise with the right intensity and duration. This treatment is like brain exercises. Eventually, training improves your ability to properly self-regulate, so you are experiencing an enhancement in your ability to function in so many areas.

How does it work?

Neurofeedback tackles the symptoms of cognitive ability. The procedures and evaluation models for neurofeedback are based on extensive brain research and testing and the specific structures of its components, including frontal lobes and hemispheres. For instance, it is understood that the right brain hemisphere is responsible for anxiety, anger, obsessive habits, distraction, and even teeth grinding issues. The brain's frontal lobe is where the executive functions occur— the acts of organizing, making decisions, and learning from one's errors. The left hemisphere is responsible for psychological issues like depression, shame, and lack of attention. Functioning greatly improves by training the brain to become even more efficient in all these fields through brain workouts.

What is it used for?

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is used in many circumstances and symptoms where the brain does not function as well as it can. These include: ADD / ADHD anxiety, depression, migraines, conductive disorder, chronic pain, teeth grinding, stomach pain, insomnia, OCD, anger/rage, learning disabilities, frequent headaches, seizures, autism
