Jessica Burkhamer, MSW, LICSW 

Jessica has been a Psychotherapist for more than 22 years. Most of her career has been based in private practice providing a wide range of therapies for children, adolescents, couples, and families as well as specializing in Neurobehavioral Disorders. Jessica taught psychopathology as adjunct professor for the University of Nevada, Reno, served as Clinical Director of Healing Ministries for Sparks Christian Fellowship in Sparks, NV. And wrote a behavioral health column for Northern Nevada family Magazine. She currently works for GroupWorks Wellness and Recovery I Park Rapids, MN. Ms. Burkhamer received her undergraduate social work degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1988 and Master’s degree from New Mexico Highlands University in 1989. Jessica’s history of speaking at workshops and schools promoting effective communication for families, and educators has added to a distinguished reputation alongside her presentations as a ROPES/Challenge Course instructor. Through ROPES, she has been instrumental in positive results achieved by couples, families, schools, and corporations as they experience the game and problem-solving techniques that are taught. Jessica has been a national speaker since 2003 and currently tours speaking on her nationally acclaimed book, Before Time Out-The CHOICES Program, (2010) which promotes an effective communication, cohesive, and cognitive program used for families, classrooms, daycares, and businesses. She currently serves as the Board President for Rising Hope Foundation which promotes awareness for adolescent Sex Trafficking, as well as fundraising to build the first safe house in Minnesota. Jessica is married, has two children and lives in a resort town in MN.

Deborah J. Farrell, MSW, LICSW


Deborah is a Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the Park Rapids area for more than ten years.  Deb is known for a warm, relaxed, and comfortable approach to counseling.  Deb embraces an integrative approach to therapy, which means utilizing a variety of orientations and therapies in order to meet the client’s needs. Deb's approach is one of respect, caring concern, acceptance, and non-judgment.  Deb works with clients from a strength-based perspective, supporting clients in using their current strengths to build new capacities for solving their life difficulties.  Deb works with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, other mental health disorders, sexual trauma and behavior, unresolved emotional issues, self-esteem/self-empowerment, grief and loss, relationship/family concerns, and counseling for personal and emotional growth, 

Deb has a life-long commitment to service in a client focused way and has previous involvements and experiences consistent with those goals, bringing a richness of knowledge to the work of therapist. She considers herself blessed to work in a profession that she feels passionate about and finds rewarding.  Deb notes, "I consider it a privilege to be allowed into my clients' inner lives, and to walk beside them through healing, change, and self-empowerment."
